Buying resources is great if you dont have the time to spend farming, although to buy resources is quite expensive if you have idle builders then its time to buy. Whichever resource is the hardest for you to farm is usually the best one to buy. For building upgrades you will need the gold and for troup upgrades you will need dark elixr or just plain old elixr.
